There is a Business Perspective to everything in life

On our radio show yesterday, Kenny Teniola⁩ and I discussed how every interest/passion has a business side. What you enjoy doing for free, someone is collecting money to do the same thing. Both of you are providing value; the other person decided to commercialised theirs.

Today, I got an email to attend a course on how to prepare a Pointpower presentation. I checked through the course content if there is something new I need to learn. Well, it was the regular. I thought it was a free course, but then I saw 250,000 Naira. 250k to learn how to prepare a PowerPoint presentation, and people will pay for this? Something I do, and I can even teach it for free; someone is getting paid to do the same?
You can even take free courses on Youtube, Coursera, Udemy, or any other online platform on MS packages.

Well, there is a business side to everything in life. That skill or activity you can perform seamlessly, and you think everyone knows it. Sorry to say, you are wrong! Not everyone knows it. And some people are willing to pay to enjoy that service from you.

Some people write stuff and post online for fun; others get paid to do the same. Some can make up/dress up their friends, help others run errands, some are good event managers, even that voice you sing with, and you are excited, some are making a living from the same gift or talent you give out for free. That is a business side to every skill/gift/talent.

If you feel that skill/gift/talent you have is worthless or not financially viable, always remember, someone is making a living doing the same thing. They were smart enough to package it as a need for those willing to pay.
